Jose de Jesus Rodriguez has been saying throughout the season that he has a dream. That dream is to play on the PGA TOUR.
The 37-year-old Mexico native took strides toward that end with his victory at the United Leasing & Finance Championship, where he survived a demanding test at Victoria National GC with a four-round score of 6 under, one better than Wyndham Clark.
Rodriguez, last year’s PGA TOUR Latinoamerica Order of Merit winner, shot a final-round, 2-under 70 at Victoria National, with four early birdies enough to combat two bogeys on the final four holes.
“All the clubs were very important,” Rodriguez explained of his success this week. “I had easier golf, because off the tee box, I hit it perfect. The chipping, keeping my eye on the ball … everything was good.”
