CLYMER, N.Y. – Two-time Web.com Tour winner David Branshaw played his way into his first Tour event since 2013, firing 9-under 63 in Monday’s open qualifier for the LECOM Health Challenge at Peek’n Peak Resort in western New York.
With the inaugural LECOM Health Challenge being held at Peek’n Peak’s Upper Course, Branshaw will enter the week with good vibes after successfully navigating the resort’s Lower Course in the qualifier. The 46-year-old was born in Oswego, New York and will be excited for the chance to greatly improve his Web.com Tour status with a good week.
Matching Branshaw’s 9-under total was University of Tennessee alum Rick Lamb, who holds conditional status this season and has played two events, missing both cuts. Lamb did finish T8 at the Casa de Campo Dominican Republic Open on PGA TOUR Latinoamerica in May.
With 138 players competing for 12 spots, the cutoff for a berth at Peek’n Peak was 6-under 66.
Bryan Martin and Bruce Woodall punched their tickets into the LECOM Health Challenge with matching 8-under 64s.
Nineteen-year-old conditional Tour member Charles Wang played his way in with a 7-under 65, which was matched by Maclain Huge.
After making the cut at the Nashville Golf Open in June, conditional member Jared Wolfe played his way into the field with a 6-under 66. He was joined at that number by Cody Paladino, Ryan Sullivan, Jack Newman, Evan Beck and Billy Kennerly.
