Good, steady play throughout a Korn Ferry Tour season can often come with a big reward at the end of the year. Trevor Cone has now figured that out twice, as he is #TOURBound once again.

In 2022, Cone earned his second Korn Ferry Tour title at the AdventHealth Championship en route to finishing the season at No. 22 on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List (the top 25 earned cards then). Cone didn’t notch a trophy this year, but he had six top-10 finishes and 11 top 25s, steadily ascending the Points List and hanging onto a pivotal top-30 position through consistent play. Cone produced peak form in June and early July when he notched three top-eight results in five events, highlighted by the best of the year – a T4 at the UNC Health Championship presented by STITCH in his home state of North Carolina.

It was enough for Cone to finish No. 27 on the season-long Korn Ferry Tour Points List, among the top 30 to earn PGA TOUR cards Sunday afternoon in a ceremony that followed the season-ending Korn Ferry Tour Championship presented by United Leasing & Finance. Among those in attendance was Cone’s dad, Tom, who introduced the younger Cone to the game in his formative years and played competitive amateur golf – once caddying for Trevor for the last two days of the North Carolina Amateur after missing the cut himself.

“From the time he picked up a golf club, Trevor has had a great natural swing,” Tom Cone told The Charlotte Observer in 2010. “But I think he is just beginning to become the player he can be.”

Cone ended up No. 27 on the 2024 Korn Ferry Tour Points List and will excitedly make a return to the PGA TOUR – eagerly hoping for even more steady play on professional golf’s biggest stage. How good can he be? Time will tell.
