Met his wife on the first day of his Psychology 101 class at Southern Illinois University. They named their son Lawson after Lawson Hall, the building where the class was located.

When home in the fall, he officiates all levels of youth and high school football. He aspires to officiate high-level college football.

Won his final college tournament, the 2018 Kingsmill Intercollegiate, taking down Brendan Peel and Brent Morgan by three strokes, thanks to a closing performance of 68-66 over his final 36 holes.

Earned his first college title at the 2017 Pinetree Intercollegiate, coasting to a four-shot triumph.
