The PGA TOUR Americas season continues this week with the Mexico Championship presented by Scotia Wealth Management in Mexico City. The fifth event of the season features a 144-player field representing 21 countries, including a trio of 2026 winners — Patrick Flavin, Mason Greene and Cole Anderson. Nine players from Mexico are also set to compete, highlighted by Omar Morales, Marcelo Garza, Raul Pereda and veteran José de Jesús Rodríguez.

Back in Mexico City for the second consecutive season, the event will be played at Club de Golf La Hacienda for the first time. The tight, tree-lined course, located north of the city, previously hosted the Mexico Open on 11 occasions, with past champions including Lee Trevino (1975) and Fred Funk (1993). At an elevation of 7,700 feet above sea level, the Mexico Championship marks the second of three consecutive PGA TOUR Americas events contested at significant altitude.

Player notes

  • Thomas Ponder (Dothan, Alabama) has been arguably the most consistent player this season. He has put together three consecutive top 10s, highlighted by a solo third at the Kia Open de Ecuador. With 14 rounds in the 60s, he leads the Tour in total birdies (82) and scoring average (67.75).
  • Patrick Flavin (Highwood, Illinois) remains a strong points list leader with a victory and a runner-up finish in four starts. He ranks second in total birdies this season (80), and his scoring average (68.06) is the fifth best on the Tour.
  • Omar Morales (Puebla, Mexico) is competing on home soil, which should provide added motivation. The former UCLA Bruin, who finished No. 9 in the 2025 PGA TOUR University Ranking, has been battling a back injury since a T24 finish at the Diners Club Perú Open.
  • Mason Williams (Bridgeport, West Virginia) has been in contention in two of his last three starts, highlighted by a tie for third in Cordoba, Argentina. Currently ranked No. 11 on the points list, Williams is building on a strong 2025 season in which he recorded three top-10 finishes to place No. 22 overall.
  • Jack Lundin (Sioux Falls, South Dakota) fired an 8-under 64 in the final round of the Kia Open de Ecuador to force a playoff with Joey Savoie. He has made the cut in all four starts this season and arrives ranked No. 7 on the points list.
  • Caden Fioroni (San Diego, California) has found early-season momentum with two top-five finishes in three starts. The 23-year-old is coming off a 2025 season in which he made all 10 cuts as a rookie out of college.

PGA TOUR Americas Points List

At the end of the season, the top 10 players on the final PGA TOUR Americas Points List earn Korn Ferry Tour membership for the 2027 season.
