Loren Roberts Commits to the Boeing Championship DESTIN, Fla. - With the 2007 Boeing Championship at Sandestin, an official
Champions Tour event, only four weeks away the field is getting even stronger.
Loren Roberts has officially committed to the event, scheduled for May 27-June 3 at the Raven Golf Club, giving the tournament
24 of the top 30 money winners on the Champions Tour. Nine of the top ten and twelve of the top thirteen have now all committed.
"We are thrilled to have Loren commit to be a part of our field once again," said tournament director Larry Long. "He had
an amazing rookie year on the Champions Tour a year ago and is off to another great start this season. The addition of Loren
to our field along with our other commitments makes the Boeing Championship one of, if not the best, fields on the Tour this
year."
Roberts currently sits in third place on the Champions Tour money list with $626,385 through the first eight events of
2007. He has an amazing six "Top Ten" finishes in those eight tournaments.
Roberts finished second on the Champions Tour money list in 2006 with $2,365,395 in winnings, just $54,832 behind Jay Hass'
$2,420,227 final total. He also finished second to Haas in the Charles Schwab Cup, twenty points behind in the closest race
in cup history.
Roberts was the only player in the 2006 Boeing Championship at Sandestin field to post three rounds in the 60's and finished
in a four-way tie for third. He earned $88,000 for his efforts, moving him past the $1 million mark in earnings for the year,
tying Hale Irwin's all-time record (1998) for the fastest to $1 million in a season.
Roberts, a resident of Memphis, Tenn., won four times on the Champions Tour in 2006 and fashioned eighteen Top-10 finishes
in twenty-one starts. An eight-time winner on the PGA Tour, Roberts also captured the 2006 Senior British Open.
"This is an all-star field of golfers already committed to play in our tournament, and it looks like there will be a few
more that will be coming," Long added. "Plus, the addition of first-year Champions Tour players like Nice Price make this
a must see' for the fans in the area."
