Peter Jacobsen, Craig Stadler, Six Past Champions Commit To The Boeing Championship At Sandestin SANDESTIN,
Fla. -- Twenty-one time PGA TOUR winner Craig Stadler and nine-time PGA TOUR winner Peter Jacobsen highlight the first group
of commitments to the Boeing Championship at Sandestin, an official Champions Tour event slated for May 28-June 3 at the Raven
Golf Club.
Six former winners of the event have also committed, including 2006 champion Bobby Wadkins, 2005 champion Jim Thorpe and
2004 champion Tom Jenkins.
"We are expecting one of our best fields ever," said tournament director Larry Long. "The Champions Tour fell in love with
Sandestin and our area during last year's tournament. The response we received from the players was tremendous. I expect the
local golf fans will be pleased with the outstanding field we will attract this year."
Stadler has captured eight titles on the Champions Tour and thirteen while playing on the PGA TOUR. During last year's
Boeing Championship, Stadler was among the leaders through two days but a final round 70 left him three strokes short of Wadkins
and in a tie for third.
Jacobsen, one of the fan favorites on the Champions Tour, saw his 2006 season come to an end in July when hip problems
forced him to the sidelines following the Senior British Open. However, hip replacement surgery and an off-season rehabilitation
and conditioning program has primed for the 2007 campaign. Jacobsen played well at last year's inaugural Boeing Championship
at Sandestin, closing with a final round 66 to finish in a tie for eighth.
The winner of the last two U.S. Senior Open championships, Allen Doyle, has also committed to the 2007 Boeing Championship
field. Doyle finished 11th on the Champions Tour money list last season, surpassing the $1-million mark for the seventh time
in eight full seasons on the tour with $1,082,840.
Three previous winners of the event are included for the 2007 tournament at the Raven, 2002 champion Dave Eichelberger,
2001 champion Mike McCullough, and 1998 champion Dana Quigley.
