Ben Crenshaw Commits To The Boeing Championship
Sandestin, Fla. - Winner of the 1995 Masters Tournament at Augusta and World Golf Hall of Fame member Ben Crenshaw has officially committed to participate in the Boeing Championship at Sandestin May 28-June 3.

"This is a banner day for our event, to add such a notable player as Ben Crenshaw," said TBC director Larry Long. "I vividly recall his win in the 1995 Masters just weeks after his mentor Harvey Pennick passed away. What an amazing scene on the eighteenth green at Augusta when he was overcome with emotion."

A 19-time winner on the PGA TOUR, Crenshaw was also captain of the 1999 United States Ryder Cup team, which staged the greatest comeback in the event's history - winning 8 points in singles matches on the final day to come from four points back for the victory over the Europeans at the Country Club at Brookline, Mass.

Crenshaw finished in a tie for 26th at the 2006 Boeing Championship at Sandestin, overcoming an opening round 75 with a 3-under par 68 on the final round on Sunday.
Crenshaw is presently 21st on the Champions Tour money list, having earned $208,088 through the first six events of the year. He is also currently in 24th place in the 2007 Champions Tour Charles Schwab Cup points standings. He has compiled 109 points through six events this year.

Known by golf fans around the world as "Gentle" Ben, he also captured the 1984 Masters green jacket and was a three-time NCAA men's golf champion (1971-73) while at the University of Texas, sharing the 1973 title with teammate Tom Kite.

"Ben is a wonderful golfer who will be hard to handle at our event this year," Long added. "He loved the Raven Golf Club during his first visit last year and I expect him to be very competitive again this year."
