Toshiba Classic Continues to Demonstrate Environmental Consciousness
2nd Annual Toshiba "Swing for the Green" Recycling Event Set for March 6-8

Newport Beach, CALIF. (February 18, 2009) - As part of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc.'s ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility and the Orange County community, the Toshiba Classic is hosting its second-annual electronics recycling event. The Toshiba "Swing for the Green" event will take place on Feb. 28 and during all three days of professional play, March 6-8, when crowds are expected to be over 80,000. Additional plans to reduce the carbon footprint of the event include using solar power and bio-diesel fuels through tournament week.

"Helping support the availability of world-class healthcare is one part of our overall CSR strategy," said Mark Simons, President and CEO, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. "Where the environment represents another piece of our commitment to CSR, the Classic provides an excellent opportunity to lead by example and foster a sense of collective responsibility for the earth in the local community."

The Toshiba "Swing for the Green" provides tournament patrons and the public a free and easy way to responsibly dispose of e-waste. Anyone who brings an item for recycling event on Saturday, Feb. 28 or March 6-8 will receive two free admissions tickets valid for any one day of the tournament. Last year, the Toshiba "Swing for the Green" generated 6,500 pounds of e-waste for responsible recycling.

To reduce the carbon footprint of the Toshiba Classic for 2009, the tournament has partnered with FirmGreen, Inc., a Newport Beach-based energy company that specializes in providing renewable energy and fuels to the market. For the tournament, FirmGreen has joined with Akeena Slar to provide solar power. This power will be used to power the electronic leaderboards and other equipment used throughout the tournament grounds.

In addition, FirmGreen will assist the tournament with bio-diesel fuels for on-site generators, reducing emissions approximately 5% at the event. These programs will assist the Toshiba Classic in its constant efforts to help the environment and become even more socially responsible, a constant goal of Toshiba America, Inc.
