| Champions Tour Enjoys Close Player of the Year Race Of Its Own |
|
October 17, 2003
While the PGA TOUR is in the midst of a very compelling late-season Player of the Year race, the Champions Tour is enjoying
one of its own. It was a three-man contest featuring Bruce Lietzke, Craig Stadler and Tom Watson, and then Hale Irwin entered
the fray over the weekend with his win at the Turtle Bay Championship in Hawaii. With two just tournaments to play (SBC Championship
in San Antonio this week and Charles Schwab Cup Championship in Sonoma, Calif., next week), The Player of the Year is based
on a balloting of Champions Tour players.
