Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship

HARRISON, N.Y. - The Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship has added three Champions Tour rookies to the field.  Brad Faxon, John Huston and Steve Pate will each compete in the Tour's final championship of the season at Westchester Country Club on August 17-21.

Faxon is a PGA TOUR veteran who collected eight titles during a career that spanned from 1984-2010.  Born in Oceanport, NJ, Faxon's best year on TOUR came in 1992 when he won twice and finished eighth on the money list.  Faxon turned 50 on Monday and is making his Champions Tour debut at this week's 3M Championship in Minneapolis. 

"I'm very excited to get out there," Faxon said in an interview last week. "I have a lot of friends on the Champions Tour, and I am ready to see if I can get my game going in the right direction again."

His second start will be at Westchester Country Club, a place he knows well. "I've played in 20-some tournaments there, so it is always nice to head back," said Faxon, who's recorded five top-10s at the course, including a pair of third place finishes.

Huston played on the PGA TOUR full-time between 1988-2009, earning seven titles and finishing in the top-10 more than 80 times.  He turned 50 on June 1 and went on to win the Dick's Sporting Goods Open in upstate New York in his third Champions Tour appearance.  Once described by Gary McCord as "the fastest player on TOUR, with no one a close second," Huston lives in the Tampa Bay area.  He's made five starts in Westchester with a best finish of T27 in 1994.

Pate is a six-time PGA TOUR winner who became the oldest player to win in Nationwide Tour history when he captured the 2010 Pacific Rubiales Bogota Open. Born in Ventura, CA, Pate played on the UCLA golf team with fellow Champions Tour member Corey Pavin.  He is a two-time Ryder Cup member who joined the Champions Tour in May, logging three top-10 finishes in eight appearances.  Pate had 10 starts at Westchester Country Club during his PGA TOUR career and finished T5 in 1994.

Previously announced players include Mark O'Meara, Mark Calcavecchia, Ben Crenshaw, David Frost, Bob Gilder, Jay Haas, Hale Irwin, Tom Lehman, Tom Kite, Corey Pavin, Nick Price, Loren Roberts, Scott Simpson, Jeff Sluman, Hal Sutton, Bob Tway, Bobby Wadkins, Tom Watson and D.A. Weibring. The entire 78-player line up will be released next Friday, August 12, when the field closes at 5 pm ET.

Individual daily and weekly tickets to the Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship are now on sale.  Those wishing to purchase tickets to the Championship may do so by logging on to the official tournament website, www.ceseniorplayers.com, or by calling the championship office at 914-481-5900.  A single-day grounds ticket is just $20 plus tax and fees.  This ticket is valid for grounds admission, good any one day, from August 17-21.  A weekly clubhouse-access ticket is available for $125 plus tax and fees and offers admission to the grounds and to the clubhouse every day during the competition rounds, August 18-21.  Food and beverage is available in the clubhouse for additional purchase.  Children 18 and under and active, retired and reserve military personnel are admitted to the grounds at no charge.
