Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship

Baltimore, MD, September 9, 2009 - Tournament officials today announced that four players among the season's top-20 money leaders on the Champions Tour have joined the deep field expected to compete at Baltimore Country Club's historic Five Farms course when the Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship returns September 28-October 4.

Topping the list of recent players to commit include John Cook, Jay Haas, Nick Price and last week's Walmart First Tee Open at Pebble Beach winner Jeff Sluman.  The decorated superfecta, who all finished in the top ten at last year's Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship, collectively own 44 PGA TOUR victories and 18 Champions Tour titles.

"We are thrilled to have players of this caliber committed to play in the Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship," commented Tournament Director Steven Schoenfeld. "We will arguably have the Champions Tour's best field of the season assembled right here in Baltimore once again this year, which should make for an exciting and rigorous week of competition at the final major in 2009."

Cook is an 11-time PGA TOUR winner who joined the Champions Tour in October of 2007.  Just 19 days after celebrating his 50th birthday, Cook claimed his first Champions Tour victory at the AT&T Championship after besting good friend Mark O'Meara by two strokes.  A year later, the Ohio State Buckeye returned to Oak Hills Country Club in San Antonio, TX and successfully defended his title to add a second career title under his belt.  In his first appearance at Baltimore Country Club, Cook carded four straight rounds of par or better to finish T7 at last year's event.

Since his 2004 debut, Haas has dominated the Champions Tour capturing twelve wins including two majors at the 2006 and '08 Senior PGA Championship.  The Greenville, SC resident with nine PGA TOUR career titles, has earned two Champions Tour Player of the Year awards and two Charles Schwab Cup trophies for winning the Champions Tour's season-long points race in 2006 and ‘08.  He finished sixth in the 2008 Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship.  Immediately following his third appearance at Baltimore Country Club, Haas will head to San Francisco's famed Harding Park Golf Course to serve as Co-Captain of the U.S. Presidents Cup team alongside Captain Fred Couples, October 6-11.

World Golf Hall of Fame member Price enjoyed a long and distinguished career on the PGA TOUR where he collected 18 titles, including the 1994 British Open Championship and a pair of PGA Championship wins (1992 & '94), before joining the Champions Tour.  The South African native was a two-time Player of the Year on the PGA TOUR, earned back-to-back money titles in 1993-94 and was a five-time member of the International Presidents Cup team.  Price has earned one victory and logged an impressive 21 top-10 finishes since joining the Champions Tour in 2007.  He was the 54-hole leader at last year's Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship, but eventually finished T3, two strokes back of winner D.A Weibring.

Sluman made history by earning his first PGA TOUR title at the 1988 PGA Championship at Oak Tree Golf Club in Edmond, OK.  He went on to earn a total of six career titles and served as Captain's Assistant to Jack Nicklaus on the winning United States team at the 2005 & 2007 Presidents Cup.  After successfully defending his title at last week's Walmart First Tee Open at Pebble Beach, Sluman has now added a total of three wins to his resume since his 2007 Champions Tour debut.  He finished T3 in last year's event.

Cook, Haas, Price and Sluman join previously announced players including Maryland's own Fred Funk, Mark O'Meara, Bernhard Langer, Mark McNulty, 2007 Champion Loren Roberts, Craig Stadler, Hal Sutton, Bob Tway, Tom Watson and 2008 Champion D.A. Weibring.
