Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship

August 26, 2009, Baltimore, MD - With just over a month remaining before the Champions Tour's best return to Baltimore for the 2009 Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship, a threesome of players with one very special garment in their respective wardrobe's announced their intentions to compete.  Former Masters champions Mark O'Meara, Bernhard Langer and Craig Stadler have all committed to the Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship, tournament officials today announced.  Baltimore Country Club's Five Farms course will again host the Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship, September 28-October 4.

In addition to the four green jackets this group has collected, they've also accounted for 32 PGA TOUR victories, 16 Champions Tour victories and participated in a combined 17 Ryder Cups.

"We couldn't be happier to have Mark, Bernhard and Craig competing here in Baltimore again this year at the Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship," said Tournament Executive Director Steve Schoenfeld.  "Their credentials speak for themselves and they will put on quite a show for Baltimore area golf fans come October."

A 16-time winner on the PGA TOUR, O'Meara claimed his first major championship at the 1998 Masters when he birdied the 71st and 72nd holes to claim a one-shot victory over Fred Couples and David Duval.  In his third full season on the Champions Tour after turning 50 in January of 2007, O'Meara has yet to post a victory but has compiled seven runner-up finishes, most recently at the Triton Financial Classic in June.  His best finish in two previous appearances at the Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship was a T31 in 2007.

Inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2002, Langer won 61 times around the world before joining the Champions Tour, highlighted by victories at Augusta National in 1985 and 1993.  A member of 10 European Ryder Cup teams with an overall record of 21-15-6, Langer joined the Champions Tour in August of 2007 and hasn't missed a beat, winning eight times.  Four of those victories have come in 2009 to go along with six other top 10's as Langer currently ranks second on the Charles Schwab Cup points list.  He finished T7 last year at the Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship.

One of the most recognizable personalities in golf since turning professional in 1975, Craig Stadler won 13 times on the PGA TOUR, highlighted by his victory at the 1982 Masters.  A native of San Diego, CA, Stadler has eight victories on the Champions Tour since turning 50 in June of 2003, including a triumph in the Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship that same year.                

The Champions Tour is in Seattle, WA, this week for the Boeing Classic, the second leg of the Tour's "West Coast Swing".  

About the Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship

About the Champions Tour
