(Savannah, GA) -- Loren Roberts, the current leader of the Charles Schwab Cup points race and the Champions Tour
official money list, has committed to the 2007 Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf, Executive Director Tim Iley announced today.
Roberts will make his second career start at the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf when the championship returns to the Westin
Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa, April 16-22, 2007.
The Germantown, Tenn. resident made Champions Tour history in 2006, becoming the first player to win the first three events
of the season. Roberts finished the year with four victories, including a victory in the Senior British Open, one of
five Champions Tour major championships. The eight-time PGA TOUR winner finished second to Liberty Mutual Legends of
Golf defending champion, Jay Haas, in both the Charles Schwab Cup points race and the Champions Tour official money list,
with over $2.3 million in earnings. Haas and Roberts battled all year for the Schwab Cup title with Roberts losing the
Cup on the final putt of the season by a mere 20 points, the closest race in the six-year history of the Cup.
Roberts has picked up right where he left off in 2007, notching five consecutive top-10 finishes to open the season and
earning Champions Tour Player of the Month honors in the process. The San Luis Obispo, Calif. native led the Tour with
18 top 10's in 2006 and now has recorded seven straight top 10's dating back to last year's AT&T Championship. He
finished alone in 10th place last year in his first appearance at the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf.
Joining Roberts in the Legends Division individual competition will be two-time Champions Tour winner Brad Bryant, 2006
3M Championship winner David Edwards and four-time Champions Tour winner Hubert Green.
Bryant enjoyed arguably his best year as a professional in 2006, earning his first two Champions Tour victories at the
Toshiba Classic in March and the Regions Charity Classic in May. The Lakeland, Fla. resident finished the year third
on the Champions Tour official money list and fourth in the Charles Schwab Cup race. Bryant finished T11 last year in
his first appearance at the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa.
Edwards debuted on the Champions Tour last May, finishing alone in fourth at the FedEx Kinko's Classic in Austin, TX.
The four-time PGA TOUR winner followed it up with a third place finish the following week at the Regions Charity Classic in
Birmingham, AL. Edwards went on to earn his first Champions Tour victory at the 3M Championship in Minneapolis, MN in
August. He will make his first appearance at the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf this April.
Two-time major champion Hubert Green will make his 11th appearance at the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf. The Birmingham,
AL native's best finish as an individual was a T4 in 2003. Green teamed with Gil Morgan to win the 1999 Liberty Mutual
Legends of Golf at The Slammer & Squire in St. Augustine, FL.
The following team committed to play in the Raphael team division for players age 50-69:
??? Gary Koch (6 PGA TOUR wins) and Roger Maltbie (5 PGA TOUR wins). The pair teamed to win the Raphael Division
in 2003 at the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa by two strokes over Mike Hill and Lee Trevino.
