Vijay Singh Feels "At Home" On The Copperhead

January 18, 2005

It's been a long, winding road for Vijay Singh, from his birth in the Fiji Islands to his current status as the world's greatest golfer.

Singh cemented that status Sunday on the Copperhead Course before a wildly supportive gallery that applauded his every move while fashioning a closing 65 for his historic ninth victory, a win that made him the first golfer in PGA TOUR history to win $10 million in one year.

"I feel at home here," says Singh, who was the runner-up to Retief Goosen in last year's inaugural event.

His performance this week was dominant. With a closing birdie on the 72nd hole he reach 18-under par, one better than the 2002 tournament record set by K.J. Choi in 2002. The result was a five-stroke margin over Tommy Armour III and Jesper Parnevik.

Singh is now at home on just about any course
