BETHESDA, Md. - Tournament host Tiger Woods and defending champion Anthony Kim are sure to have their hands full when they go up against the talented pros who will tee it up at the AT&T National at Congressional Country Club.

Woods, who is returning to compete in the tournament after missing it last year because of knee surgery, and Kim, whose victory on the Blue Course jump-started his breakthrough season, are going against one of the strongest fields of the year in the $6 million event, June 30-July 5.

AT&T* is the title sponsor of the golf tournament and has supported the Tiger Woods Foundation for the last six years.

Major championship winners, Ryder Cup heroes and young superstars-in-the-making are all lining up to make their mark on what figures to be a classic tournament.  Each one has shown himself to be rounding into form just in time. 

Woods won in the third tournament of his comeback from knee surgery when he took the trophy at Bay Hill.  His results so far have shown remarkable consistency, even after an eight-month layoff.  The 14-time major winner has placed in the top 10 in each of his five stroke play events, including a tie for sixth at the Masters, the first major of the year.

Ernie Els, a three-time major winner, got off to a quick start this year with a tie for sixth at Kapalua and a tie for fifth at Doral.  Always a threat on Sunday, Els' final round scoring average of 69.50 is the 11th best on the PGA Tour.

The start of Kim's year was similarly strong - a tie for second at Kapalua.  Nagging injuries then slowed Kim down, but he quickly righted himself at the Masters where he shot 65 in the second round, a performance that featured 11 birdies.

Sean O'Hair might have been nipped by Woods on the last day at Bay Hill, but he easily shrugged it off and showed there were no after-effects.  He was 10th at the Masters and then won at Quail Hollow.  With six top 10s this year, O'Hair has been as steady as they come.

Nick Watney made his stamp on the season with a remarkable last-day victory at Torrey Pines.  He was also second at Doral and tied for fourth at Bay Hill.  The 28-year-old is earning a reputation as someone who seems to put himself in the mix every week.

Fred Couples isn't just waiting around until October to serve as captain of the Presidents Cup, he's showing his playing days are far from over. The former Masters champion has three top 10s, including a tie for third at Riviera and a tie for third at Houston. Couples also had four rounds in the 60s at the Nelson, where he was 11-under and tied for eighth.

Danny Lee may be only 18, but he doesn't act like it. The youngest U.S. Amateur winner, Lee turned pro in April and he's set his sights on making an even bigger name for himself.

Boo Weekley already had a huge fan base, but it grew larger after his strong performance on the winning U.S. Ryder Cup team. Weekley, who had to withdraw from the Players Championship after injuring his shoulder, has been a workhouse this year, with 12 tournaments under his belt.

Mike Weir began his season at the Bob Hope and tied for third at 28 under. Weir, a former Masters champion, was also second at Pebble Beach and can handle greens as well as anyone. He ranks 6th in putting on the PGA Tour at 1.722.
