CASTLE ROCK, CO--- Masters champion Phil Mickelson today confirmed his participation in the 2006 INTERNATIONAL at Castle
Pines Golf Club, August 7-13. "Obviously, we're thrilled to announce Phil's participation in our event" said Executive
Director Larry O. Thiel. "He is a favorite of golf fans everywhere and is certainly a favorite of ours. Perhaps
this will be the year that he wins his third trophy here," he added.
Mickelson has already won twice on TOUR
this year (BellSouth Classic and The Masters) and has earned $4,123,005, placing him third on the PGA TOUR Money List.
A third win at The INTERNATIONAL could help him get past his collapse at the U.S. Open earlier this summer. During the
final round there, he lead by two-shots with four holes to play, but a double bogey on the final hole cost him the victory.
It would have been his third straight major victory.
Mickelson is one of only two players to have won twice
at The INTERNATIONAL, his wins coming in 1993 and 1997. Over the years, he has earned a total of 309 points and $1,531,270
making him the second highest career money and point leader in INTERNATIONAL history. To purchase tickets to The
