July 17, 2006

CASTLE ROCK, CO---When the PGA TOUR rolls into town for the 2006 INTERNATIONAL, August 7-13, David Duval and Brandt Jobe will be among the participants, giving golf fans across Colorado a chance to root for the "home team."   Both Duval and Jobe have strong ties to the state.
"In terms of their golfing abilities, both David and Brandt have given Colorado residents a valid reason to follow their respective careers, said Executive Director Larry O. Thiel.  "On a personal level, both are fine individuals and we're glad to have them in our field," he added.
Duval, a resident of Cherry Hills Village, made news earlier this year by finishing 16th at the U.S. Open - the first cut he'd made in a major since the 2002 PGA Championship.  His strong finish in the event boosted his confidence and prompted him to proclaim himself on the verge of a comeback.  So far, in this final year of his exempt status on TOUR, Duval has earned $283,877, placing him 148th on the TOUR money list.    Over the years, he has earned 67 points and $377,000 at The INTERNATIONAL.
Jobe, a graduate of Kent Denver High School and former resident of Castle Pines, had his best ever showing at The INTERNATIONAL last year.  He had a 9-point lead over winner Retief Goosen at the start of the final round, but stumbled on the front nine on his was to a -3 for the day.  He finished just one point behind Goosen, and earned his biggest paycheck at Castle Pines - $540,000 - for his runner-up performance.  In all, Jobe has earned 105 points and $626,105 in 10 showings at The INTERNATIONAL.
Other participants that were announced today were Tommy Armour III, Mark Brooks, Olin Browne, Ben Crane, Steve Flesch, Billy Mayfair, Corey Pavin and Bob Tway.
