Mickelson Commits to INTERNATIONAL
CASTLE ROCK, CO --- Phil Mickelson today confirmed his participation in the 20th annual presentation of The INTERNATIONAL
at Castle Pines Golf Club, Executive Director Larry O. Thiel announced. "Besides being one of the best golfers
in the world, Phil Mickelson is a true gentleman and a real friend to The INTERNATIONAL," said Executive Director Larry O.
Thiel. "We're happy to welcome him back this year." Mickelson is having a tremendous year in 2005, having won
three times on Tour already (FBR Open, AT&T Pebble Beach and BellSouth Classic). It seems to be a year of firsts,
for Mickelson. His victories at the FBR Open and at Pebble Beach marked the first time he's ever won back-to-back, and
his wire-to-wire victory at Pebble Beach was the first time that he has won in that manner. It is also the first time
in the event's 68-year history that the event has had a wire-to-wire winner. He has won over $4 million in
2005 and is currently 3rd on the TOUR Money list. At age 35, he has already surpassed the $30 million mark in career
winnings. Mickelson is one of only two players to have won twice at The INTERNATIONAL, his wins
coming in 1993 and 1997. Over the years, he has earned a total of 286 and $1,401,270. Perhaps, in this year of
firsts, Mickelson will be the first three-time champion at The INTERNATIONAL.
