Two-time U.S. Open Champion Retief Goosen to Play in 2005 INTERNATIONAL
CASTLE ROCK, CO --- When The INTERNATIONAL at Castle Pines Golf Club celebrates its 20th anniversary August 1-7,
2005, two-time U.S. Open Champion, Retief Goosen will be among the field of players. "To announce the participation
of a player who is the caliber of Retief is exciting to say the least," said Executive Director Larry O. Thiel. "He
is a superstar in the world of golf and I know that fans throughout Colorado will be thrilled to see him play here again,"
he added. Goosen, a native of South Africa, is off to a fast start in 2005. He has already earned four top
ten finishes on the PGA TOUR, and has finished T3 twice. One of the third place finishes came at The Masters.
He has amassed over $1.8 million this year, and is currently 14th on the PGA TOUR Money list. At the 2005 U.S. Open,
Goosen, the defending champion, was looking to be the first player since World War II to win three U.S. Opens. He was
the third round leader but shot an 81 on the final day to end up T11. This will mark Goosen's third trip to Castle Pines.
In three INTERNATIONAL's he has earned a total of 45 points and $443,360. His best finish was T2 in 2003.
According to Thiel, Goosen is just the first in a long list of notable names that plan to participate at Castle Pines
this year. "Golf fans should expect to see a stellar field at this year's Tournament," he said. "It's our 20th anniversary
and we plan to celebrate in style." To purchase
