Rodney Pampling to Defend Title at 20th INTERNATIONAL
CASTLE ROCK, CO--- Australian Rodney Pampling will return to defend his title at the 20th annual INTERNATIONAL at
Castle Pines Golf Club, August 1-7, 2005 Executive Director Larry O. Thiel today announced. "We're delighted to
welcome Rodney Pampling back to the site of his first PGA TOUR win," said Thiel. "He is a fine champion who is having
a terrific year, and we're looking forward to having him return to defend his title." Pampling came to the 2004 INTERNATIONAL
having never won on the PGA TOUR. He was the first round leader but entered the final round tied with Chris DiMarco,
the 36-hole leader, with +29 points. A string of bogeys quickly took DiMarco out of the picture and Pampling found himself
chasing only Germany's Alex Cejka. As is often the case at The INTERNATIONAL, it was an eagle on the often-pivotal 17th
hole that helped Pampling secure victory. He finished the day with +31 points and a win worth $900,000.
Pampling's +31 points tied the lowest point total by a champion in Tournament history. His +2 round, accomplished
with the eagle and one birdie that offset five bogies, was the second lowest finishing round by a champion behind Tom Pernice
Jr., who scored +1 in winning in 2001. Pampling has had a respectable start in 2005. He has had two top-ten
finishes so far (T5 at The Masters and T6 at The MCI Heritage) and is currently 38th on the PGA TOUR money list. This
year will mark Pampling's fifth trip to Castle Pines. Over the years, he has earned a total of $963,112 and +54 points
at The INTERNATIONAL. To purchase tickets to The INTERNATIONAL, call 888-755-1986,
