With enhancements to the 2007 event and some of the biggest names in professional golf, this year promises spectators
plenty of Vegas-style excitement
Las Vegas, Nevada - Some of the greatest golfers in the world are coming to the most exciting city in the world for the
PGA Tour's 25th annual Fall Tournament in Las Vegas taking place October 11th - 14th. These players will compete to
become champion of the 2007 Frys.com Open benefiting Shriners Hospitals for Children. This year's players will be competing
for a $4 million purse, with the winner taking home $720,000.
The Frys.com Open continues a long history of professional golf in Las Vegas. The tournament was the first in PGA TOUR
history to offer a $1 million purse and the first non-major tournament to offer a $5 million purse. Past Winners include
favorites Greg Norman (1986), Tiger Woods (1996), Stuart Appleby (2003), 3-time winner Jim Furyk (1995, 1998, 1999) and last
year's champion Troy Matteson among others.
Brand new to the experience this year is "The Hill", a luxury 22,000 square foot entertainment pavilion overlooking the
16th, 17th and 18th holes and granting a panoramic view of the course, Las Vegas skyline and Red Rock Canyon. In true
Vegas fashion, guests will receive an incredible hospitality experience. Some of the city's hottest nightclubs and finest
restaurants will be enhancing the tournament experience on The Hill. Guests can enjoy a lively and comfortable atmosphere
resplendent with seating areas, tables and large plasma screen televisions for keeping up with all of their sporting interests.
The fun on The Hill culminates in the Hole-in-One Ferrari sweepstakes at the 17th hole on Sunday. The Ferrari is valued
at $350,000 and one lucky spectator may drive it home. If no player scores a hole-in-one on the 17th, the Frys.com Open
will be raffling off a complimentary entry into the tournament's 2008 Pro-Am. The Pro-Am package is valued at $12,000
for this year's tournament. Value for next year is to be determined.
The PGA TOUR's Frys.com Open is rolling out the red carpet for military men and women and their families, providing
active duty and retired personnel from all five branches - including Reservists and members of the National Guard - complimentary
access to the tournament at TPC Canyons on Thursday, October 11th and Friday, October 12th and at TPC Summerlin from Tuesday,
October 9th through Sunday, October 14th.
Military personnel from Nellis Air Force Base and surrounding military installations and their families will be admitted
FREE of charge throughout tournament week. Military personnel need only show a valid ID at the entrance gates to view
all the action. Military personnel are also being sought to serve as tournament volunteers in a variety of capacities
ranging from golf cart distributors, parking attendants, walking scorers and standard bearers to leaderboard coordinators,
shuttle drivers, player registration volunteers, corporate hospitality assistants and other committees.
The Pro-Am segment of the Frys.com Open is a hot ticket in town. Amateurs are paired one-on-one with Pros for 2 days
of golf competition at TPC Canyons and TPC Summerlin, two of the city's premier golf courses. Tournament play
will be preceded by 3 days of practice rounds as well.
On Wednesday, October 10th the PGA Tour players and Pro-Am players will be treated to a private party on The Beach at the
Mandalay Bay Resort. The evening will be highlighted by a private concert by the Beach Boys.
After the Pro-Am concludes, a private party is planned on "The Hill" where participants will be treated to entertainment
from the House of Blues. Amateur participants will also receive free admission to the Professional tournament play and
an exclusive Player Gift Package valued at over $1,500.
