GRAND BLANC, Mich., -- Buick announced the purse for the 2007 Buick Open is a record $4.9 million. The tournament is scheduled
for June 25 to July 1 at Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club here. "It's great to be able to announce another increase
to the Buick Open purse," said Larry Peck, Buick's golf marketing manager. "With another world-class field at Warwick Hills
and more great crowds, we hope to continue to raise additional funds for the many worthy charitable organizations in Southeastern
Michigan." The purse for the inaugural Buick Open in 1958 was $52,000. Since then, it has increased from $100,000 in
1978, to $700,000 in 1988, to $1.8 million in 1998, to $4.8 million in 2006, to its current high of $4.9 million. First-place
money has increased from $9,000 in 1958, to $20,000 in 1978, to $126,000 in 1988, to $324,000 in 1998. The winner of the
2007 Buick Open will receive $882,000 and the keys to an all-new 2008 Buick Enclave luxury crossover. For Buick Open tickets,

defending champion of the Buick Open is Tiger Woods, who can become only the third player to successfully defend his title.
Tony Lema (1964,1965) and Vijay Singh (2004, 2005) were the other two.
Buick has been the official car of the PGA Tour since 1984. In addition to the Buick Open, Buick sponsors the Buick Invitational
at Torrey Pines Golf Course, La Jolla, Calif. Tiger Woods won his third consecutive Buick Invitational title in January. Through
its PGA Tour events, Buick has donated more than $36 million to local charities since 1982.
