May 12, 2004

For Immediate Release:  May 11, 2003

HARRISON, N.Y. -- The 2004 Buick Classic got even stronger as Davis Love III, the No. 4 player in the world, and last week's winner, Joey Sindelar, committed to this year's event at Westchester Country Club, June 7-13.

It took 370 events since his last victory, but Sindelar was crowned champion at the Wachovia Championship last week, 14 years after winning the 1990 Hardee's Golf Classic. His best finish of the 2003 season came at the Buick Classic where he was third. Sindelar, a New York native, had nothing but kind words for Westchester Country Club last year.

"It's an interesting course. I've always loved this course and I don't know whether I play well because I talk myself into it here, because I love coming to this golf course," he said.

Sindelar, who grew up playing at a public golf facility in the center of New York state,  birdied two of the last three holes and went on to win in a playoff with Oberholser at the Wachovia Championship.

"I never, ever gave up hope," Sindelar said following his victory. "This feels way too good. It's a thrill. It will take me a while to understand this is real."

Sindelar now ranks No. 20 on the PGA TOUR Money List.

"It was a pleasure to see Joey Sindelar win last week," said Peter Mele, executive director of the Buick Classic. "It is a credit to his determination and work ethic that he never gave up and was able to earn another victory. We'll see if he can do it again here in his home state."

Love is coming off a career season in 2003 in which he won a career-high four times and surpassed the $6-million mark in single-season earnings for first time in his career. He also led TOUR money list for 14 weeks and finished third overall.

His victories in 2003 included the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, THE PLAYERS Championship, the MCI Heritage and The INTERNATIONAL. Love is currently No. 5 on the PGA TOUR Money List and has finished in the top-10 five times this year with two runner-up finishes.

"Davis Love is one of the best players in the world." Mele said. "Adding him to the field only strengthens a tournament that will include golf's most exciting players."

Tickets are still available and can be purchased at www.buickclassic.pgatour.com or by calling 877-874-0769. There are various types of tickets available, including single-day tickets that can be purchased for only $35.
