Fourth Major Corporate Partner Joins Booz Allen Classic Anheuser-Busch
and Michelob ULTRA Named Tournament's Official Beer Sponsor
POTOMAC, Md. -- The Booz Allen Classic corporate sponsorships keep "flowing"
as Anheuser-Busch's low-carbohydrate light beer Michelob ULTRA joins as the
Tournament's Official Beer Sponsor.
Anheuser-Busch, Inc. (A-B), one of the nation's top sports marketers, joins
Booz Allen Hamilton (title sponsor), Comcast (Monday's Comcast Pro-Am) and
American Airlines (official airline; American Airlines Eagles Club sponsor) as
the fourth prominent corporate partner of the Washington area's revitalized PGA
TOUR event returning to the Tournament Players Club (TPC) at Avenel in Potomac,
Md., June 21-27, 2004.
"Anheuser-Busch is associated with the world's top professional sporting
events, so it is fitting that we partner with the 2004 Booz Allen Classic, one
of the Washington metropolitan area's biggest and best sporting events," said
Derek Frederickson, vice president, Anheuser-Busch, Inc. "This world-class
event provides an excellent opportunity to introduce Michelob ULTRA to many of
the 180,000 adult fans expected to attend this year's tournament."
In addition to its Official Beer Sponsor designation, the tournament's
concession stand (located between the third and sixth holes) will be renamed the
"Michelob ULTRA Grove" and will feature Michelob ULTRA umbrellas.
We're thrilled to have Anheuser-Busch / Michelob ULTRA join our impressive
list of corporate sponsors for this year's Tournament," said 2004 Booz Allen
Classic Executive Director Scott Abell. "Our growing list of high profile
sponsors is consistent with our renewed focus on the Booz Allen Classic being a
first-class event on the PGA TOUR and a top-tier fundraising event for charities
throughout the Washington area."
The Michelob Family is one of golf's strongest corporate sponsors with an
association that dates back more than 31 years. In addition to serving as
official beer sponsor of the Booz Allen Classic, Michelob ULTRA serves as the
"official beer" of the PGA TOUR, LPGA Tour and the Champions Tour.
Launched nationwide in September 2002, Michelob ULTRA has quickly become one
of the hottest beer brands in the industry. Michelob ULTRA is a smooth,
refreshing lager with 95 calories, 4.2 percent alcohol by volume and 2.6 grams
of carbohydrates per 12-ounce serving.
Based in St. Louis, Anheuser-Busch Cos. Inc. is the leading U.S. brewer and
holds a 50-percent share in Grupo Modelo, Mexico's leading brewer.
The 2004 Booz Allen Classic begins a new era for one of the area's top
professional sporting events and its title sponsor - Booz Allen Hamilton. Since
moving to the Washington area in 1980, the tournament has distributed nearly $8
million to charities, half to local Washington area charities. Beginning with
the 2004 Booz Allen Classic, tournament host Washington Golf Charities, a
501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed in 2003 to host the Booz Allen Classic,
and Booz Allen Hamilton have set a fund-raising goal of $1 million annually,
with 100 percent going to Washington area charities, more than quadrupling any
prior year's charitable giving to the local community.
KemperSports has operated the tournament since 1979, when the tournament
originated in Charlotte.
The 2004 Booz Allen Classic has a tournament-record $4.8 million purse, with
the champion collecting an all-time high $864,000 first-place check. For ticket,
