POTOMAC, Md. -- The Booz Allen Classic turned skyward this week when the
Washington area's exclusive PGA TOUR event announced the addition of its third
major sponsor.
American Airlines, the largest air carrier in the world, has assumed the dual
roles of "Official Airline" for the Booz Allen Classic and sponsor of the
tournament's new, exclusive American Airlines Eagle Club.
The tournament celebrates its 25th anniversary in the Washington region when
it returns to the tournament Players Club (TPC) at Avenel in Potomac, Md., June
21-27, 2004.
"American Airlines is thrilled to be associated with one of the Washington
area's premier professional sports landmarks; an event well-known for its strong
community involvement and generous charitable contributions," said Athar Khan,
Regional Director, Mid-Atlantic Region of American Airlines. "We're proud to
serve as the Official Airline of the Booz Allen Classic and look forward to
joining the more than 180,000 visitors for a great week of golf, entertaining
and activities at TPC at Avenel."
A major element of the agreement is the "America Airlines Eagle Club" -- a
newly-created, exclusive on-site seating area overlooking the ninth and 18th
greens. Club membership is truly a first-class experience, including a
complimentary breakfast buffet, lunch buffet, afternoon hors d'oeuvres and full
bar; clubhouse access; one VIP parking pass (day-specific); scoring systems to
keep tabs on the live tournament action, souvenir program and daily pairing
sheets. American Airlines Eagle Club tickets are limited to 100 per day,
Thursday through Sunday.
"We're extremely pleased to welcome American Airlines onboard and we greatly
appreciate their support of the Booz Allen Classic," said 2004 Executive
Director Scott Abell. "American joins a growing list of top companies
establishing goodwill within our community as a corporate partner. We also
appreciate the fact that American recognizes that the tournament provides a
valuable platform for reaching a highly-attractive audience."
The tournament will also have the opportunity to cross-market to American
Airlines Frequent Flyer members.
The signing of American Airlines marks the third major sponsorship for the
Booz Allen Classic following in the steps of Booz Allen Hamilton (title sponsor)
and Comcast (Monday's Comcast Pro-Am).
American Airlines is the world's largest carrier. American, American Eagle
and the AmericanConnection regional carriers serve more than 250 cities in over
40 countries with almost 4,200 daily flights. The combined network fleet numbers
more than 1,000 aircraft. American's award-winning website, AA.com, provides
users with easy access to check and book fares as well as personalized news,
information and travel offers. American Airlines is a founding member of the
oneworld Alliance. American Airlines and American Eagle are units of the AMR
Corporation (NYSE: AMR).
The 2004 Booz Allen Classic begins a new era for one of the area's top
professional sporting events and its title sponsor - Booz Allen Hamilton. Since
moving to the Washington area in 1980, the tournament has distributed nearly $8
million to local and national charities. Beginning with the 2004 Booz Allen
Classic, tournament host Washington Golf Charities, a 501(c)(3) non-profit
organization formed in 2003 to host the Booz Allen Classic, and Booz Allen
Hamilton have set a fund-raising goal of $1 million annually, with 100 percent
going to Washington area charities, more than quadrupling any prior year's
charitable giving to the local community.
KemperSports has operated the tournament since 1979.
