Irving, TX - The Salesmanship Club Charitable Golf of Dallas, sponsor of the EDS Byron Nelson Championship, announced today
that the 2006 Championship raised a record $6.33 million in net proceeds. This is the Championship's largest donation to charity
in its history. In 2001, the Championship raised more than $6.11 million. This is the fifth time in Championship history that
the annual contribution has exceeded the $6 million mark.
Funds generated from the sale of sponsorships, tickets, merchandise, concessions, parking and other amenities benefit Salesmanship
Club Youth and Family Centers (SCYFC), a nonprofit organization that provides innovative education and mental health treatment
services for troubled and at-risk children and their families in the Dallas area. Funds raised by the Salesmanship Club throughout
the year provide the majority of SCYFC's operating budget.
"The EDS Byron Nelson Championship ensures that the Salesmanship Club is able to provide vital services to children and
families regardless of their ability to pay," said Kent Skipper, PhD, executive director of SCYFC. "Thanks to the generous
support of EDS, sponsors and volunteers, these children and families are able to receive our services, which would not otherwise
be available to them. This record-breaking donation is a true testament of the community's support of our charity."
Since its inception, the Championship has raised more than $94 million for SCYFC, more than any other PGA TOUR event. In
honor of this accomplishment, the Salesmanship Club of Dallas has been awarded with the Benefactor Award by the PGA TOUR Tournaments
Association for six consecutive years.
Pat Bolin, 2006 tournament chairman, said, "We are thrilled to make the Championship's largest donation in history to SCYFC
this year. Thanks to our title sponsor, EDS, all of our sponsors, volunteers and spectators for making this possible and contributing
to the Championship's success. Your support is allowing us to make a significant difference for Dallas area families."
The 2007 EDS Byron Nelson Championship will be played April 25-29 at the Four Seasons Resort and Club Las Colinas in Irving,
Texas. The 2007 event will mark its 40th year on the PGA TOUR.
