with funding. In total, over 25 state charities will benefit from the revenue generated by the tournament.
The Nationwide Tour has raised nearly $30 million for charity over the past 14 years. Last year alone, tournaments on the
PGA TOUR, Champions Tour and Nationwide Tour collectively generated a record $82.8-million for charity, bringing the TOUR's
all-time donations to more than $820 million.
"West Virginia Golf Charities wants to make significant contributions to the PGA TOUR's impressive totals, while at the
same time, ensuring that local and state charities enjoy the success," said Tournament Operations Director Ashley Brian Childs.
Kelly Nelson, executive director of Medbrook Children's Charities, is excited for the opportunity to partner with the event.
"We're thrilled. I think it's great that the state of West Virginia and the Classic are partners because it's going to benefit
the children of our community."
The collective efforts of PGA TOUR players, tournaments, sponsors and more than 80,000 volunteers have a positive impact
on more than 2,000 charities throughout the world. The organizers of the inaugural Pete Dye West Virginia Classic are optimistic
and hope to increase contributions in the years to come. "Being a first-year event, it's difficult to say how much money we
will be able to raise for local charities, but we are confident that it will be significant," said Tournament Director Tim
McNeely. "It's our hope that we can increase our charitable giving each year of the tournament."
