RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. -- The PGA TOUR announced today new sponsorship agreements for the Nationwide Tour event in Southern California. The Mark Christopher Auto Center, one of General Motors' top dealerships in the United States, has agreed to become the Title Sponsor for the event, and Adelphia, Southern California's largest cable provider, has agreed to become the Presenting Sponsor. The tournament will be renamed "The Mark Christopher Charity Classic Presented by Adelphia."

The event will be played Sept. 22-28, 2003, at Empire Lakes Golf Course in Rancho Cucamonga. The purse will be $450,000, with $81,000 to the champion.

Bill Calfee, PGA TOUR Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Nationwide Tour, commented, "We are delighted to have two companies, Mark Christopher Auto Center and Adelphia with such strong community involvement in the Inland Empire become our new Title and Presenting sponsors. We welcome them to our family of Nationwide Tour sponsors."

Noting that the event is celebrating its 10th anniversary in the Inland Empire and fourth consecutive year at Empire Lakes Golf Course, Stephen Wagner, tournament director, stated, "I cannot express my gratitude enough to all of our many sponsors who have enabled us to get to this point. I'd also like to thank Empire Lakes for its role as the host venue for this important Tour event. The commitments from both Mark Christopher Auto Center and Adelphia will allow for continued growth of the tournament."

Mark Christopher Auto Center has been involved with the tournament since 2002. Christopher Leggio, vice president, Mark Christopher Auto Center said, "We are delighted to be involved with the largest sporting event in the Rancho Cucamonga/Ontario area. We had an outstanding experience with the tournament last year and decided to get more involved. In addition, our sponsorship continues the Mark Christopher legacy of supporting charitable events that improve and benefit the quality of life in the Inland Empire."

Also signing with the tournament this year as Present Sponsor is Adelphia, Southern California's largest cable provider. "Since there is a great love for sports of all kinds in this community, this tournament is a great opportunity for Adelphia to give back to its customers," said Lee Perron, senior vice president, Adelphia. "We look forward to partnering with our fellow corporate sponsors to ensure the success of an event that means so much to so many in the Inland Empire." Adelphia supports a variety of local activities, including coverage of local high-school sports and is the only cable operator in Southern California to offer original programming featuring local professional sports teams such as the Anaheim Angels (This Week In Angels Baseball), the Los Angeles Dodgers (Inside Dodgers Baseball), Los Angeles Avengers and the Anaheim Mighty Ducks.

For the first time in the tournament's history, The Golf Channel will telecast live coverage of the 2003 Mark Christopher Charity Classic Presented by Adelphia. The Golf Channel will feature two-and-a-half hours of tournament play, Thursday through Sunday. Coverage will re-air the same day and the week following the tournament and will reach an international audience.

Additionally, the tournament announced that the main benefactor of this year's event will be Loma Linda University Children's Hospital. All tournament publications and related marketing materials will be tagged, "Benefiting Loma Linda University Children's Hospital."

The tournament, part of the PGA TOUR's Nationwide Tour, features some of the world's best professional golfers and raises funds for local community charities. Previous Nationwide Tour players include recent U.S. Open winner Jim Furyk, David Toms, John Daly, David Duval and many other current PGA TOUR stars.
