(July 8, 2004) Mike Ivester has been named director of sales for the BMW Charity Pro-Am at The Cliffs golf tournament.
Ivester, originally from Shelby, N.C., is responsible for current and existing sponsorship sales for the tournament.
Ivester has more than 13 years of experience in the golf industry, serving the past six years as a territory sales manager
representing John Deere's golf and turf division.
"My job is to make sure that our tournament remains attractive to sponsors, that our sponsorships evolve and keep pace
with the tremendous growth of this tournament, and that our sponsors receive a great return on their sponsorship investment,"
Ivester said. "Sponsors of this tournament receive incredible hospitality and exposure. It is one of the many
things that make this event unique. Their contribution is a significant reason why the BMW Charity Pro-Am at The Cliffs
takes place and allows us to raise money for charity."
"We are very pleased to have Mike on our team and heading up sponsor relations," said Tournament Director Darin MacDonald.
"Mike understands golf and this tournament. He is a part of this community and like everyone who lives here, wants to
help make it better. He will bring a lot of knowledge and value to our sponsors."
The BMW Charity Pro-Am at The Cliffs is one of the premier events on the Nationwide Tour and is the only event that features
professionals paired with an amateur or celebrity partner in a two-day better-ball competition. Professionals compete
for a cash purse, while amateurs and celebrities compete for individual prizes and cash donations to the charity of their
choice out of the beneficiaries selected by South Carolina Charities, Inc.
All four rounds are televised live by the The Golf Channel.
The first four tournaments have raised more than $2.3 million for charity.
