June 19, 2003 June 19,2003 -- Envirocare of Utah, Inc. has committed to become title sponsor for the 2003 Utah Classic Golf Tournament,
with first right of refusal for the 2004 event. An official PGA TOUR event on the PGA TOUR's Nationwide Tour, the Envirocare
Utah Classic will be played September 1- 7, 2003 at Willow Creek Country Club. Evan Byers, Executive Tournament Director
for the Utah Classic, Khosrow Semnani, owner of Envirocare of Utah, Inc., and Dwayne Nielson, President and CEO of Envirocare
of Utah, Inc., made the joint announcement at a press conference at Willow Creek this afternoon (June 19).
"After
working the past three years to secure a title sponsor for the Utah Classic, we are very excited to announce that Envirocare
has agreed to team up with us," Byers said. "With the commitment from Envirocare and many other sponsors we can continue to
keep the PGA TOUR here in Utah and go forward in making a difference for everyone involved with the Envirocare Utah Classic.
From our community, our players, and the huge staff of volunteers to Utah charities and thousands of youth golfers, we will
all benefit from Envirocare's sponsorship."
"When we were approached by the tournament officials, we saw an opportunity
to help Utah kids and keep the PGA Tour here in Utah," Semnani stated. "It is important that we support the community, other
Utah charities, and the Utah Boys Ranch, all of which will benefit greatly from the event. The PGA Tour is committed to helping
local charities and Utah kids and we challenge other Utah companies to become involved. Envirocare and our team of over 250
employees are excited about the opportunity to be involved in this event."
Once again this year the Utah Boys Ranch
has been designated as one of the local charities that will benefit from proceeds from the Envirocare Utah Classic. The Utah
Boys Ranch was the 2001 Nationwide Tour Co-Charity of the Year.
"The Utah Boys Ranch is elated to welcome Envirocare
as the title sponsor of this year's Utah Classic. We are proud to be associated with this event and to have our young men
and staff involved with the PGA Tour and its Nationwide Tour players. This tournament is a true asset to our community. We
believe with the new title sponsor on board we anticipate that other local organizations will join in to make this year's
tour event the best ever," stated Chris Buttars, Executive Director of the Utah Boys Ranch.
The Nationwide Tour is
owned and operated by the PGA TOUR and has been in existence since 1990. Since that time, Nationwide Tour alums, including
last week's U.S. Open victory by Jim Furyk, have won 130 PGA TOUR events and 9 major championships. In addition to the four-day
tournament itself, a series of youth exhibitions, pro-am golf tournaments and many other community events will be held in
conjunction with the Envirocare Utah Classic. "We are very pleased that this event has secured a local title sponsor,"
said Bill Calfee, Chief of Operations for the Nationwide Tour. "The Salt Lake market is one that we want to be in and this
tournament now has all the elements in place to become a premier stop on the Nationwide Tour."
The PGA TOUR, through
its events, bring into communities world-class golf, with the Nationwide Tour featuring the future and former stars of the
PGA TOUR. It also provides economic impact, corporate hospitality and entertainment and community involvement, all while raising
charitable contributions for charities involved with the events.
"The Utah Classic combines sport and charity, two
prized endeavors in Utah. The corporate citizenship of Envirocare of Utah now makes certain that the PGA Tour and the charities
it supports will continue to benefit our community," said Utah Governor Mike Leavitt.
