WICHITA, Kan. - April 11, 2007 - Wichita Open officials announced today that they have signed two contracts that will keep
the Wichita Open on the Nationwide Tour for two more years. The first contract is an agreement with the PGA TOUR to retain
the Wichita Open as a Tour event; the second will keep the event at Crestview Country Club.
"We are thrilled about being back at Crestview for the Wichita Open in 2007 and 2008," says Roy Turner, director of the
Wichita Open. "Crestview is a wonderful facility, and we are pleased that they have agreed to host the Open for the next two
years."
Turner says that in his nine years with the Wichita Open, the enthusiasm surrounding this year's event is higher that he
has seen it. Spots in the Aug. 1 Cessna Pro-Am, which is the official tee-off to the Wichita Open on Aug. 2, sold out
in less than two months-the quickest sell-out time in the Pro-Am's 18-year history.
This will be the first year that Cessna has sponsored the Wichita Open Pro-Am, and according to Turner, the public's interest
in the Wichita Open and Cessna's involvement was key to the early sell-out.
Adding to the excitement of this year's Wichita Open is the fact that 2007 Masters winner Zach Johnson is a Wichita Open
alumnus. In the 2000 Open at Willowbend Golf Club, Johnson missed the cut. In 2003 at Crestview, Johnson tied for 52nd place,
shooting a total of 278. He won this year's Masters with an overall 289.
Tickets for Nationwide tour play, which takes place Aug. 2 through Aug. 5, will go on sale June 1. Ticket information is
