Lists his dad, who gave him his start in golf, as his hero. His wife, Tami, is a golf professional at Sea Pines CC in Hilton Head, S.C., and has beaten him nine times in nine years. She was also the top player on the Ohio State women's golf team from 1990-93 and played in the 1995 U.S. Women's Open. Non-golf-related jobs held include bartending. With a father in the Air Force, he lived in Georgia, Texas, Nebraska, Montana and Virginia. As an adult, he's called Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, Georgia and Maryland home. Is named for actor/singer Kris Kristofferson. "My mom thought he was cute, and the movie 'The Rose' was coming out at the time she was pregnant. That's where my name came from.".
At the 2012 Honda Classic in his hometown of West Palm Beach, he spearheaded a unique fund-raiser for Birdies for the Brave, where fellow TOUR players raced remote-control cars paid for and sponsored by on-looking fans at a nearby track. Players who took part in the event included Rickie Fowler, Dicky Pride, Kevin Streelman and Joe Ogilvie. After the event, he said, "Hey, what can I say? I bring my kids here two to three times a week when I'm in town. I know this track better than anybody."
