Both of his parents are accomplished amateur players, evidenced by both winning Ohio State Amateurs (the same tournament Reifers won in 2004). His father, Randy, played golf at DePauw University, is a member of the Ohio Golf Hall of Fame and made the cut in the 2006 U.S. Senior Open, with a T47 finish. Randy played on the same college golf team as former Vice President Dan Quayle and TV golf analyst Mark Rolfing.
