HSBC New Zealand PGA Championship, finishing T6. Made the cut in six of 27 starts on Tour in 2006, with a T19 at the Knoxville Open his only foray into the top 25. Among his six starts on Tour in 2005 was a season-best T31 at the Scholarship America Showdown. Made the cut in 12 of 20 starts on the 2004 Nationwide Tour. Concluded the season No. 87 on the money list, with $54,560. Had his best showing of the season, a T13 at the Samsung Canadian PGA Championship, one of six top-25 finishes. Made the cut in 13 of 21 events on Tour in 2003, ending the season No. 94 on the money list, with $44,369. Cracked the top 25 on five occasions, including three times in his last five events of the year. Was T15 at the Mark Christopher Charity Classic, his top performance of the season. Finished No. 170 on the 2002 Nationwide Tour money list, with $11,089. Made the cut in four of 11 tournaments. Tallied two top-25 finishes, including a season-best T22 at the LaSalle Bank Open. Made the cut in 13 of 23 Nationwide Tour events in 2001, with two top-25 finishes-T8 at the Omaha Classic and T14 at the Gila River Golf Classic, where he posted a season-best 15-under-par total. During the 2000 PGA TOUR season, recorded just one top-30 finish, a T29 at the Shell Houston Open to finish No. 193 on the final money list. Two-time winner on the Nationwide Tour in 1999. Finished 10th on the season money list to earn his spot on the 2000 PGA TOUR. Carded a final-round 68 to come from two strokes off the pace and win the Lakeland Classic by one over Glen Hnatiuk, Jim McGovern and Shaun Micheel. At that time joined Chris Smith (1995, 1997 Dakota Dunes Open) as the only players in Tour history to win the same event twice. Second victory came at the Ozarks Open in a playoff over Edward Fryatt. Finished 18-under at Ozarks and overcame a six-stroke deficit at the midway point to join Fryatt in the playoff. Had three runner-up finishes in 1998, including playoff losses at the Knoxville Open and the Dakota Dunes Open. Earned his first career Nationwide Tour victory at the 1997 season-opening Lakeland Classic by three strokes over Mark Carnevale. Earned card for 1995 PGA TOUR at 1994 National Qualifying Tournament, where he finished T37. Status allowed him only 19 PGA TOUR events, so he filled balance of 1995 with 11 Nationwide Tour events. Was a third baseman on the 1989 North Carolina baseball team, which advanced to the College World Series in Omaha. Won College Scholar-Athlete Award in 1989 at UNC. Did not play college golf. Says he decided to pursue a golf career the day after the 1989 College World Series. Cites playing on the PGA TOUR in 1995 as his biggest thrill in golf. Lists his dad and grandfather as his heroes.
