| Most recently made the cut in three of nine starts on the Nationwide Tour in 2007, with a T35 at the Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open his best outing. Finished T18 at 2005 PGA TOUR National Qualifying Tournament to gain status on PGA TOUR for first time since 2003.
Went on to make the cut in 10 of 25 starts in 2006, with his lone top-25 a T24 at the Chrysler Classic of Tucson. Played Nationwide Tour in 2004-05, finishing 96th and 167th on money list, respectively. Finished 160th on PGA TOUR money list in 2003, with one top-10, a T10 at the Chrysler Classic of Tucson. Played in a career-high 34 events in 2002 and was in the money 21 times but fell out of top 125. Turned in best season in 2001, earning more than double his career total. Did not have a top-10 but posted nine top-25s. Returned to the PGA TOUR in 2001 for the third consecutive season by virtue of finishing T31 at the 2000 National Qualifying Tournament. Earned his first career Nationwide Tour title at the 1998 Boise Open, taking the first-round lead with an opening 63 and sharing the third-round lead. Finished ninth on the final Nationwide Tour money list and earned his 1999 TOUR card for the first time. Member of the 1991 Walker Cup team. Won the 1990 Southeastern Conference individual title. All-American in 1990 and 1991 at South Carolina, where his four career wins was a school record until broken by Nationwide Tour member Kyle Thompson (five). Family lived near a golf course since Mike was age 5, most of the time at Inverrary CC in Lauderhill, FL, the site from 1972-83 for what is now The Honda Classic.
