Three consecutive birdies on the front nine the final day pushed him to the outright lead, which he increased to six at one point on the back nine. He finished with a 3-under 69 and a tournament-record, 11-under 269 total. Notched his second victory of the year at the Livermore Valley Wine Country Championship, battling Paul Sheehan down the stretch and eventually winning by three strokes. Collected $108,000 with the victory and moved within one win of the Tour's immediate three-win promotion to the PGA TOUR. Notched his third top-10 finish of the season at the Rex Hospital Open, where four rounds in the 60s led to a T3 finish. Had a hole-in-one with a 4-iron from 172 yards on the par-3 17th hole during the final round of the LaSalle Bank Open. As a result, fan David Brown received $25,000, while LaSalle Bank Open tournament charities Sunshine Through Golf Foundation and the Les Turner ALS Foundation each received a $12,500 donation. A T6 at the Albertsons Boise Open and a T10 at the Nationwide Tour Championship were his only other top-10 finishes in his last 16 starts of the season. More |
