2006: Ended the season 115th on the TOUR money list, the lowest spot since he finished No. 135 as a rookie in 1996. But managed to retain his fully-exempt status for 10th consecutive season. Made 21 cuts in 29 events entered and posted seven top-25 finishes...Best effort was a
T11 at the Frys.com Open and Reno Tahoe Open. His $84,800 payday in late October at the Frys.com Open moved him over the $750,000 mark in season earnings and helped him secure his card for the 2007 season. 2005: In first start, earned a T6 at the Buick Invitational...Posted unofficial T7 at the rain-shortened Nissan Open, where he posted rounds of 67-69, three shots out of Adam Scott-Chad Campbell playoff...One week later, finished T9 at the Chrysler Classic of Tucson, aided by opening rounds of 69-63. 2004: His four top-10s were the most since he posted seven in 2001...Held a share of the 36-hole lead with Jerry Kelly at THE PLAYERS Championship after opening 66-69. Finished T6 after rounds of 73-73 on the weekend. 2003: Finished T9 at the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship after losing to Adam Scott in the third round (2 and 1). 2002: Earned first TOUR title in his 184th career start. Became first player to make a World Golf Championships event his first career victory with a win at Accenture Match Play Championship. Beat fellow Sacramento, CA native Scott McCarron 1-up in the 36-hole final at La Costa Resort and Spa. Became the highest seed (No. 62) to win the tournament. Key shot was and up-and-down for par from the front bunker on the final hole. Used claw putting grip to win just one week after experimenting with it at Nissan Open. 2001: Shattered previous mark for top-25s with 13 (previous best was 12 in 2000)...Opening 67 gave him six-way share of the first-round lead at Touchstone Energy Tucson Open. Closing 68 left him one shy of winner Garrett Willis. Managed to eclipse the $1-million mark in a single season for the first time in his career with T7 at the Advil Western Open, worth $112,200...Participated in the British Open for the first time and finished T9, his first top-10 in a major championship. 2000: Best showing came at the Buick Invitational, a T5...At Canon Greater Hartford Open, shot a final-round 65, his lowest final-round score of the year, to place T9...Held first-round lead at Bell Canadian Open after opening 65. Entered the event as a last-minute commitment due to fact his wife, Mary, gave birth to their first child just 10 days prior to tournament. Finished T10. 1999: Finished with four top-10s and eight top-25s. Top-10s came in Bob Hope Chrysler Classic (T8), Buick Invitational (T4), FedEx St. Jude Classic (T6) and Las Vegas Invitational (T6). 1998: At Buick Invitational, rounds of 68-67-70 left him one stroke shy of second career playoff. 1997: Came close to victory at Shell Houston Open, sharing 54-hole lead with Phil Blackmar. He and Blackmar shot final-round 70s before Blackmar won with a birdie on first playoff hole. 1991-92: Member of Nationwide Tour. Amateur: Second-team All-American at Fresno State University.

Brother David was a member of PGA TOUR from 1997-2004. The Sutherlands often could be seen practicing together at TOUR events. The two were paired together for the first time on TOUR during first two rounds of 1999 Compaq Classic of New Orleans...Won 1997 EA Sports Challenge Championship, defeating
defending champion Paul Goydos.
