This week the PGA TOUR heads to the Monterey Peninsula for the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, where golfers and celebs will spend a few days yukking it up along the California coast at one of the game’s most historic venues. The atmosphere lends itself to a relaxed vibe with plenty of hijinks but the tournament is loaded with stars, in and out of the game.
The field has 6 of the top 10 players in the Official World Golf Ranking, including World No. 1 Jordan Spieth and No. 3 Jason Day.
Here are a few notable groups to keep an eye on:
Jordan Spieth & Jake Owen-Dustin Johnson & Wayne Gretzky: Spieth’s travels the last few months have spanned the globe, but it hasn’t slowed him down. In his last six starts he hasn’t finished outside the top 7, which included a runaway win at Kapalua to open 2016. Johnson, meanwhile, has won twice before at Pebble Beach. Tee times: 11:55 a.m. ET on Thursday off No. 1 at Spyglass Hill, 11:11 a.m. ET on Friday off No. 10 at Monterey CC, 12:39 p.m. ET on Saturday off No. 1 at Pebble Beach.
Bubba Watson & Mark Wahlberg-Kevin Streelman & Larry Fitzgerald: Watson is one of the longest hitters in golf and has hit it great in his first two starts of the year but has struggled with his putting. Streelman, meanwhile, finished third in the Farmers Insurance Open a couple weeks ago. Tee times: 11:11 a.m. ET on Thursday off No. 1 at Spyglass Hill, 12:50 p.m. ET on Friday off No. 10 at Monterey Peninsula, 11:55 a.m. ET on Saturday off No. 1 at Pebble Beach.
Phil Mickelson & John Veihmeyer-Patrick Reed & James Dunne: Mickelson has been in good form this year, which is why he’s playing six events in a seven-week stretch. Reed, meanwhile, started out hot with a runner-up in Maui but has cooled since, tying for 56th at PGA WEST and then withdrawing after an 81 in brutal conditions in the third round at Torrey Pines. Tee times: 11:55 a.m. ET on Thursday off No. 10 at Spyglass Hill. 11:11 a.m. ET on Friday off No. 1 at Monterey Peninsula, 12:39 p.m. ET on Saturday off No. 10 at Pebble Beach.
Brandt Snedeker & Toby Wilt-Davis Love III & Aneel Bhusri: Snedeker is off to a torrid start this year, having finished third in Maui, second in Honolulu and then winning at Torrey Pines. He is also the defending champion and won at Pebble Beach in 2013, too. Love has also won at Pebble Beach before, doing so in 2001 and again in 2003. Tee times: 12:51 p.m. ET on Thursday off No. 1 at Spyglass Hill, 12:06 p.m. ET on Friday off No. 10 at Monterey Peninsula, 12:11 p.m. ET on Saturday off No. 1 at Pebble Beach.
PGA TOUR LIVE will bring you exclusive coverage from Pebble Beach Golf Links all week long. Follow the groups below on Thursday and Friday starting at 11 a.m. ET. After they conclude play, free Featured Holes coverage from the par-4 15th and par-3 17th will stream until 6 p.m. ET.
Featured Groups and Featured Holes coverage will stream in the same window (11 a.m.-6 p.m.) on Saturday and Sunday.
Here's a look at the groups you'll see Thursday and Friday on PGA TOUR LIVE:
Hunter Mahan/Bo Van Pelt: Two Oklahoma State alums are paired in this group. Mahan was runner-up here in 2011. Tee Time: 11:55 a.m. ET on Thursday at Pebble Beach
JJ Henry/ Colt Knost: Henry and Knost may be overshadowed by one of the amateurs in the group. ESPN announcer Chris Berman will make his annual Pebble Beach appearance with Henry, who hails from the state (Connecticut) where the sports network was founded. Tee Time: 12:06 p.m. ET on Thursday at Pebble Beach.
David Duval/ Paul Dunne: A former world No. 1 and a promising young player are in this group. Duval is a three-time runner-up at Pebble Beach, including a surprise run at the title in 2010. Dunne, who held the 54-hole lead as an amateur at last year's Open Championship, finished T13 two weeks ago in his first PGA TOUR start as a pro, at the Farmers Insurance Open. Tee Time: 11:55 a.m. ET on Friday at Pebble Beach.
Padraig Harrington/ Shane Lowry: Dunne, the young Irishman, is followed by two players from his home country who won last year on the PGA TOUR. Harrington won last year's The Honda Classic, while Lowry won his first PGA TOUR title at the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational. Tee Time: 12:06 p.m. ET Friday at Pebble Beach.
