CBS Sports set to take unique look at life on the PGA TOURtext sizeApril 29, 2013
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (April 29, 2013) – Golf fans only get a glimpse of life on the PGA TOUR when they attend a tournament or tune in to a telecast. But between tournament week preparation and schedules, charity or sponsor outings, possibly a photo shoot or just catching up on things at home after being on the road, it’s more complicated than simply showing up and playing golf. It becomes a balancing act of obligations that literally can take them all over the country.
PGA TOUR 2013: Seven Days presented by Mercedes-Benz, a one-hour CBS Sports Special airing on Saturday, May 4 at 2 p.m. ET, chronicles seven different PGA TOUR stars on seven different days of the week. With access both at home and PGA TOUR venues, the program will show fans the unique personalities of some of the game’s biggest stars.
What is it like, for instance, to be Rickie Fowler competing against the world’s best players at a PGA TOUR event, or Graeme McDowell on an off day at home in Florida? Every day of every week on the PGA TOUR is an adventure unto itself; for the lives of the game’s best players are a kaleidoscope of activity both on and off the course.
PGA TOUR 2013: Seven Days presented by Mercedes-Benz will follow:
Day 1 – Graeme McDowell: The 2010 U.S. Open Champion brings charisma and charm everywhere he goes in his adoptive hometown of Orlando, Fla. On a Friday off from tournament play, the affable Irishman spends the day treating underprivileged Irish children on a trip of a lifetime to Orlando as part of the GMAC Foundation, and then spends the evening in his new restaurant entertaining his friends.
Day 2 – Russell Henley: A winner in his first event as rookie in 2013, Henley quickly established himself as one of the PGA TOUR players to watch. We experience an off day in the life of the standout first-year player, as he unwinds at home in Charleston, S.C., surrounded by family and friends.
Day 3 - Martin Kaymer: The 2010 PGA Champion and 2012 Ryder Cup hero spends a Tuesday showing off his unique workout in the desert hills of Phoenix, Ariz.; then jets off to Los Angeles for a Hugo Boss photo shoot.
Day 4 - Rickie Fowler: Starting out from his home in Jupiter, Fla., to the course at the Honda Classic, and all the way through his round; one of the PGA TOUR’s most popular players gives his personal view of the tournament’s first day.
Day 5 – Scott Langley: The first alumnus of The First Tee ever to earn a PGA TOUR card, this rookie gives back to the organization that has done so much for him during an off day at home in West Palm Beach, Fla.
Day 6 – Justin Rose: The four-time PGA TOUR winner plays in the final group during the third round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard, and must deal with the inevitable ups and downs as he chases victory … and tries to withstand a charge from Tiger Woods.
Day 7- The RBC Heritage: We have all experienced the drama and excitement as the PGA TOUR's best battle down the stretch on a Sunday.
