In fantasy golf, sometimes the best offense also qualifies as the best defense. Bay Hill ranks highly among sites where one of Woods’ 10 starts should be burned, if not at the top, so I’ll take the FedExCup points. And while he’s cancelling out other gamers thinking the same, I’ll let the other three battles it out in the trenches.
Keegan Bradley, Graeme McDowell
Ian Poulter, Tiger Woods
Of Bradley's 16 most recent rounds on TOUR this year, 14 have been at par or better. He didn't have a good showing here in 2011 (78-77) but he's trending up right now.
Graeme McDowell, Ian Poulter
Lee Westwood, Tiger Woods
In top form, Woods is the heavy favorite. He's putting well again and playing on a course he owns. An eighth victory would tie Sam Snead for the most at a single event. But don't count out one of the Euros, who have been known to spoil a party or two.
Sergio Garcia, Ian Poulter
Bubba Watson, Tiger Woods
What can I say that someone else isn't? Tiger is easily the favorite here. Local resident Ian Poulter intrigues me. He was on a roll up until his last start at Trump Doral but has been strong at Bay Hill with back-to-back top-15 finishes.
Martin Laird, Graeme McDowell
Webb Simpson, Tiger Woods
How can you not pick Tiger Woods to win? Seven wins in 16 starts at Bay Hill -- including three victories in his last four appearances. This is as close to a sure bet as you can have.
Jim Furyk, Lucas Glover
Boo Weekley, Tiger Woods
We can only use a certain player 10 times a year, and it was a mistake to leave Tiger benched for his two wins. My excuse? Wanted to save him for majors, FedExCup Playoffs (Eight starts). Bay Hill gets one of the other two (Bridgestone is the other).
It's a chalk week -- top seeds in my NCAA bracket (Go Hoosiers!) and you-know-who at Bay Hill. Well, maybe the bracket won't look so good by Sunday afternoon but I'm quite confident Woods will deliver.
I'm not sure how you could have anyone else in the top spot this week. He's already picked up wins at Torrey Pines and TPC Blue Monster at Trump Doral, and his game is in prime shape to grab another one at Bay Hill.
Harris English, Jim Furyk
Graeme McDowell, Tiger Woods
No reason to outthink myself (which is not difficult to do). Strong season + course dominance = successful title defense. When I've exhausted my 10 Tiger picks before the playoffs begin, I'll react then. But can't bypass Bay Hill.
Ernie Els, Lucas Glover
Charles Howell III, Tiger Woods
It's pretty hard to pick anyone but a guy who's won here seven times before and comes into the week already with two wins this season. Woods, who won here last year, has been dominant at Bay Hill through the years and there's little reason not to think he'll continue to play well again at Arnie's place.
Sergio Garcia, Jim Furyk
Brandt Snedeker, Tiger Woods
Tiger has been in top form this season and has already made history by earning his eighth victory at Torrey Pines and his 17th WGC title. Now he has the opportunity to match Sam Snead by claiming his 8th win at one event. I don't see him backing down this week, especially if he remembers the putting tips Stricker gave him.
