DORAL, Fla. — Two weeks after TaylorMade's SLDR MiniDriver landed on the USGA's Conforming Driver Heads List, the club was spotted on the TaylorMade Tour Truck at the WGC-Cadillac Championship.
TaylorMade brought the yet-to-be-released club to Trump National Doral to show to players on its tour staff. The 12-degree MiniDriver — the club reportedly has a head in the neighborhood of 250 cubic centimeters — features a non-adjustable hosel and the company's Speed Pocket technology in the sole.
While the club carries the SLDR name, it has a different color scheme than the SLDR driver and metal woods. Whereas SLDR has a glossy grey crown and silver sole, SLDR MiniDriver has a black sole and silver crown that has a matte finish.
TaylorMade Tour Reps confirmed that Dustin Johnson tested the SLDR MiniDriver recently but had no plans to put it in play this week.
