Description: After moving from course to course during the first several years of THE PLAYERS Championship, the PGA TOUR decided to build a permanent site for the tournament in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida now known as TPC Sawgrass. Golf course architect Pete Dye was brought onto the project where he pioneered the concept of “stadium golf,” working with then-commissioner Deane Beman.
