In the opening round of the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic, Nick Gilbert, the late son of Rocket Mortgage majority owner Dan Gilbert, was honored with red bow tie pins and his name across the backs of caddies’ bibs. The red bow tie was Nick's and Dan's good luck charm during NBA Draft lotteries with the Cleveland Cavaliers, the NBA team owned by Dan. Nick passed away in May at age 26 after a lifelong battle with Neurofibromatosis.
