SAXOPHONIST KENNY G RETURNS TO THE HONDA CLASSIC

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL - Kenny G, one of the world's most renowned saxophonists who is also an avid golfer, will once again serve as host of The Honda Classic's Wednesday Pro-Am and will perform a benefit concert for the tournament charity.

The Kenny G Gold Pro-Am will be played Wednesday, March 3, as the traditional prelude to the Thursday start of the PGA TOUR's Honda Classic.

The next night, March 4, Kenny G will trade his clubs for his sax and perform a benefit concert at the Eissey Campus Theatre, an intimate 750-seat venue located on the Palm Beach State College campus across from the Gardens Mall on PGA Blvd.

The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. and be preceded by a cocktail reception for Orchestra VIP ticket holders at 6 p.m.

Tickets are available for $125 for VIP Orchestra, $95 Orchestra and $75 Grand Tier and can be purchased by calling 1.866.8HONDA8 or visiting thehondaclassic.com.  All proceeds benefit Children's Healthcare Charity, the host organization of The Honda Classic whose primary beneficiary is the Nicklaus Children's Health Care Foundation.

"I had an amazing time last year acting as "host" for the Honda Classic Pro-Am," Kenny G said. "The course was set up perfectly and all the players, both professional and amateur, were a blast to be around. The fans, the volunteers and all the people involved in putting this tournament together were a delight to be around as well.

"I think my favorite moment was performing on Thursday night and having Jack and Barbara Nicklaus sitting in the front row. It was an honor to share my talents with those so talented and to also team with Barbara Nicklaus to visit the children at the Child Life Institute. It's just great to be around people that go out of their way to help those less fortunate, which is the basic motto of the PGA TOUR. I am excited to return to The Honda this year and look forward to continuing what we started last year to make The Honda Classic stand out even more than it already does as one of the premier stops on the PGA Tour."

Earlier in the day on March 4, Kenny G also will perform privately for the children and their families at Quantum House, a facility on the campus of St. Mary's Medical Center which houses children who are receiving treatment at the Hospital and/or their families. Kenny G also will make a television appearance during NBC's national coverage of the tournament.
For the past two decades, Kenny G has established himself as the biggest-selling instrumental musician of the modern era, with global sales totaling more than 75 million albums. He has collaborated with the likes of Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Natalie Cole, Toni Braxton and Frank Sinatra. His album Breathless was the biggest selling instrumental record in U.S. history with more than 12 million records sold in the U.S. alone. His 1994 holiday album Miracles is the best selling holiday album of all-time.
In between making music, Kenny G often finds his way to the golf course. In December 2006, Kenny claimed the #1 ranking in Golf Digest's "Top 100 in Music" list, with an impressive +0.6 handicap.
"It has been a thrill for The Honda Classic to have an artist of Kenny G's stature affiliated with our event," Executive Director Kenneth R. Kennerly said. "Last year Kenny G captivated everybody he came in contact with, from fellow Pro Am participants to players to the kids at the Child Life Institute where he visited with Barbara Nicklaus. Palm Beach County is a diverse community with a lot of Kenny G fans and The Honda Classic is a natural choice for Kenny in his desire to be involved with a PGA TOUR event."

The 2010 edition of The Honda Classic will be played March 1-7 at PGA National Resort & Spa.

The tournament, Palm Beach County's largest sporting event, awarded more than $642,000 to area children's charities in 2009 to surpass the $16 million mark in charitable contributions during American Honda's 28-year tenure as title sponsor. American Honda is now the longest -standing sponsor on the PGA TOUR.

Individual daily tickets can be purchased for $15 (Tuesday and Wednesday), $30 (Thursday and Friday) or $40 (Saturday and Sunday).  A Classic Value Pack good for the entire week is $95 and includes over $300 worth of added value coupons from area golf courses, restaurants and PGA National Resort & Spa.
