    • 2014 Sony Open in Hawaii Tournament Week Tees Off!

Tournament week for the 2014 Sony Open tees off January 6 - 12, at Waialae Country Club. Twenty-three-year-old TOUR rookie, Russell Henley, finished with a tournament record-24-under 267 to capture his first PGA TOUR victory at the 2013 Sony Open. He returns to Honolulu in January 2014 to defend his title.

The one-week event consistently draws an elite field of professionals to compete for a share of the $5,600,000 purse (the tournament champion takes home $1,008,000 in prize money). With one of the most international field of golf professionals on the PGA TOUR, the Sony Open showcases Hawaii to a global television audience in more than 560 million homes across 220 countries and territories. The rounds of professional tournament competition are nationally broadcast live by Golf Channel, and, the Sony Open is the only PGA TOUR tournament with live broadcasts to Japan provided by NHK and Jupiter Sports Network.

Daily tournament admission tickets are $15 per person if purchased online in advance via or at any First Hawaiian Bank branch on Oahu. Tickets purchased at the gate during tournament week are $20 per person daily. Season badges are $50 and good for admission throughout the week. Children 12 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult ticket holder. Active duty and retired military service members and dependents are admitted free with an official military ID. Veterans are provided free admission tickets via Veteran Tickets Foundation ( For more information about the Sony Open, please visit

The golf professionals are not the only money-winners for the week. Hawaii charities are big winners at the Sony Open, too! In its fifteen-year history, the tournament's charity sponsor Friends of Hawaii Charities, with the support of The Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, Inc. has distributed over $13,000,000 in grants to more than 350 local non-profit organizations. The event is a community-corporate partnership that champions women, children, elderly and the needy in Hawaii.
