8/7/2013 Northern Trust Open launches 2014 TICKETS Fore CHARITY™

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -The Northern Trust Open is once again offering charitable organizations in the Los Angeles area the opportunity to participate in TICKETS Fore CHARITY™, a fundraising platform designed to improve the quality of life in communities where PGA TOUR events are held. The TICKETS Fore CHARITY program will offer registered 501 (c)(3) organizations a chance to raise funds by promoting tournament tickets sales to the historic Northern Trust Open, to be held February 12-16, 2014, at historic Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades.
The Northern Trust Open's TICKETS Fore CHARITY program allows local charitable organizations to promote the sale of daily grounds, weekender grounds, weekly grounds and weekly Clubhouse tickets to the 2014 event and keep 80 percent of the net proceeds from each ticket. The remaining 20 percent of the net proceeds go directly to City of Hope, the official charity of the Northern Trust Open. City of Hope is a leading research, treatment and education center for cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases.
This marks the fifth year of the Northern Trust Open's TICKETS Fore CHARITY program. A total of 51 registered charities participated in TICKETS Fore CHARITY in 2013 and generated more than $274,000 for nonprofit organizations in the greater Los Angeles area.
Once again, Northern Trust Corporation (Nasdaq: NTRS) will provide a charity challenge bonus pool of up to $50,000 to be distributed at three "checkpoints" throughout the year. Under the charity challenge, the charities that generate the most ticket sales - with a minimum of $10,000 - through the first two designated checkpoints are to be awarded $10,000 each by Northern Trust Corporation. The final $30,000 bonus is to be divided among all participating TICKETS Fore CHARITY organizations, based on the percentage of sales generated during the entire 2014 program (the charity must have generated at least $15,000 total to be eligible for a percentage of the final bonus).
For the 2014 event, specially-priced tickets available through the TICKETS Fore CHARITY program include daily grounds ($30); weekender ($45, valid Saturday and Sunday); weekly grounds ($80, valid Wednesday-Sunday); and weekly clubhouse tickets ($295, Wednesday-Sunday).
Fans are reminded that each year, youth 18 and younger are admitted free of charge to the Northern Trust Open when accompanied by a ticketed adult. There is no limit to the number of youth 18 and younger who can attend with a ticketed adult. Also, as part of its support for the Birdies for the Brave military outreach initiative, the TOUR provides all active duty, retired and Reserve military members and their dependents with complimentary admission to the Northern Trust Open all week. Military tickets can be obtained by anyone with a valid Department of Defense-issued ID. Veterans can acquire complimentary tickets by contacting the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System.
In 2013, the Northern Trust Open generated $1.3 million to benefit City of Hope, the event's official charity partner, and other non-profit organizations in the Los Angeles area. The total generated for Los Angeles charities since the event's inception in 1926 is now nearly $57 million.
