Northern Trust Open launches 2012 TICKETS Fore CHARITY™
Program helps local non profits raise funds
LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Tournament officials at the Northern Trust Open are once again extending charitable organizations in the Los Angeles area the opportunity to participate in TICKETS Fore CHARITY™, an innovative fundraising platform designed to improve the quality of life in communities where PGA TOUR events are held. The TICKETS Fore CHARITY program will offer registered 501 (c)(3) organizations a chance to raise funds by promoting tournament tickets sales to the historic Northern Trust Open, to be held February 14-19, 2012, at historic Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades.
The Northern Trust Open's TICKETS Fore CHARITY program allows local charitable organizations to promote the sale of daily and weekly grounds tickets to the 2012 event and keep 80 percent of the net proceeds from each ticket. The remaining 20 percent of the net proceeds go directly to the Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce Charity Foundation, which enriches the lives of young professionals in greater Los Angeles by helping to develop strong corporate, civic and nonprofit leaders through professional growth, leadership development, personal enrichment and community involvement.
This marks the third year of the Northern Trust Open's TICKETS Fore CHARITY program. A total of 67 charities participated in TICKETS Fore CHARITY in 2011 and generated more than $200,000 for nonprofit organizations in the greater Los Angeles area.
Once again, Northern Trust Corporation (Nasdaq: NTRS) has stated it will provide a charity challenge bonus pool of up to $50,000 to be distributed at three "checkpoints" throughout the year. Under the charity challenge, the charities that generate the most ticket sales through the first two designated checkpoints are to be awarded $10,000 each by Northern Trust. The final $30,000 bonus is to be divided amongst first through fifth place based on overall TICKETS Fore CHARITY sales for 2012.
Non-profit organizations interested in participating in the TICKETS Fore CHARITY program may contact Kristi Lee Fowlks in the tournament office at (310) 573.5810 or KristiFowlks@pgatourhq.com.
Tournament ticket prices for the 2012 Northern Trust Open range from $30 for a daily grounds ticket and $80 for a weekly grounds ticket.
In 2011, the Northern Trust Open generated $1.6 million for Los Angeles charities, bringing the total charitable contribution to $53.5 million since the event's inception. It is estimated that the Northern Trust Open helps 15,000 Los Angeles residents each year, which includes 5,000 kids who are beneficiaries of its charitable proceeds as distributed primarily through the Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce Charity Foundation.
