J.B. Holmes' putting probably won him the Wells Fargo Championship last week, but his crazy-long driving stats are pretty impressive. We'll take a look at that and several trends and statistics of THE PLAYERS Championship by going inside the numbers ...

1  Miguel Angel Jimenez’s score at the 17th hole during the first round of THE PLAYERS Championship in 2002. … Jimenez, who was married over the weekend according to the London Daily Mail, is the last player to ace 17 at THE PLAYERS. There have been 5,207 regulation tee shots on the 17th since Jimenez’s ace. Ben Crane was the closest to the pin last year on No. 17 at 9 inches.

8  Number of champions of THE PLAYERS Championship since 2000 who have finished in the top 5 in greens in regulation for the week. … This figure includes five champions who have led the field for the week in greens hit – Sergio Garcia (2008), Stephen Ames (2006), Fred Funk (2005), Adam Scott (2004) and Hal Sutton (2000).

11  Since 1982, number of players who have won THE PLAYERS while finishing in the top 10 in driving accuracy. … This is somewhat surprising considering you would think there would be such a premium on hitting the fairway at TPC Sawgrass, where danger seemingly lurks on every tee shot. Since 2005, accuracy seems to have been more important, though. Three champions have finished first in driving accuracy while Phil Mickelson (2007) finished 65th in accuracy off the tee and Matt Kuchar (2012) was T37.

29  Number of players in the top 30 of the FedExCup standings in the field at THE PLAYERS. … Only Jason Day (thumb injury) is not playing this week. For the record, 27 of the top 30 players in the world are also in the field.

42.86%  Number of drives J.B. Holmes hit more than 320 yards at the Wells Fargo Championship. … Ridiculous, right? Holmes, who led the field in driving distance at 333.9 yards per measured drive (38 yards longer than the field average), hit an astounding 24 of 56 drives more than 320 yards. Crazy long.

44  Number of balls in the water at TPC Sawgrass’ par-3 17th hole during THE PLAYERS last season. … The highest mark since 2003 was 93 water balls around the island green in 2007.
