With Tiger Woods no longer in the picture at the Masters, Rory McIlroy will take over as the face of Nike Golf for the year's first major championship.
The two-time major winner will be sporting four different looks at Augusta National but plans to wear the same Lightweight Innovation Color polo for all four days of the tournament.
“These polos are really lightweight and comfortable,” McIlroy said. “I like that I know how it’s going to feel day to day, and there’s no distracting seams or material – I can just focus on my game.”
The ultra-lightweight polo features shoulder seams that are bonded rather than stitched to lie more closely against the body. Nike's designers also moved the seam towards the upper back of the shirt so it doesn't run along the top of the shoulder, allowing for increased movement during the swing.
“We listen to our athletes to understand what is going to make them feel most comfortable and confident so that they can play their best,” said Merritt Richardson, Nike's vice president of global golf apparel. “Those insights are helping us to deliver innovations that address what matters most to golfers – maximized range of motion, minimal distractions and supreme comfort, all while showcasing a modern look of golf that enhances the athletic form.”
